Welcome to LightAge, a new LED medical-lighting products company that will concentrate in the development of Human Centric Lighting and the body’s Circadian Rhythm.
Our initial product is currently in the production phase and you will be able to learn more about it here on this website when it’s ready to go to market. However, thanks for visiting our site and hope that you will spend a few minutes in checking out the “About Us” section of the company ownership as well as the “Learning Center” for more information on the body’s Circadian Rhythm and how the role light plays in keeping that “rhythm” in check.
Light plays a major role in our circadian rhythm – the 24-hour day/night or awake/sleep cycle. Without light, our internal clock malfunctions resulting in tiredness, mood swings, irritability and can lead to illness.
Had a late night at the office? Or a late business meeting? Jetlag from traveling? You feel a little sluggish the next day, don’t you? That’s because your circadian rhythm has been compromised.
We are living in an aging society. In 2014, 46.2 people were age 65 or older. By the year 2060, the Administration on Aging projects that there will be 98 million “older persons” – more than twice the number in 2014.
Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia. Because of the aging population, the Alzheimer’s Association reported in 2016 that 5.2 million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease are age 65 or older. That corresponds to one in nine people age 65 and older has Alzheimer’s. Presently, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s and by mid-century the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s will nearly triple to a projected 13.8 million.
Light can make a difference. Stay tuned and check back often.
